Oil Pressure on a Ford 600

I bought an old Ford 600 and had a oil leak, replaced the rear seals and it is still leaking. One of the guys I talked to asked what kind of pressure it is running and it is fairly high. What is the normal oil pressure supposed to be at a 1000 RPM? Can someone help out?

Normal pressure real hard to say because there are many factors to that. That said on most it should around 35PSI when warm if not a tad bit lower. Oil leaks caused by oil pressure being to high most of the time is caused by the relief valve sticking or some other such problem. Had that happen on an Old Chev Vega years ago and it would blow the filter gasket in seconds

I have a 601 (similar to yours - same engine) and it holds 50 psi of oil pressure. I don't think high oil pressure is causing the leak.

Oil pressure does not cause the rear seal to leak. Either the seal is completely worn out and oil splashing around in the pan is leaking or possibly blowby (worn rings) is blowing it out.

Thanks for all the input. I still think it has something to do with the wedge seals on the rear main cap, so I'll have to pull it back off!
