OT Water Pump

Anybody use pump on pond for lawn watering and irrigating. If so what type of pump do you use?

If your pond is free of weeds and scum, a surface float with a 50 mesh screen will allow a centrifugal pump to be successful. A trash pump and no screen will work with duckweed or spirogyra. The water is free, selecting a good pump in the 1hp category if electric, or 3 hp if gas will keep 2 sprinklers operating. Roller and gear pumps need clean fluids, not pond water. Jim

We pump out of a lake (pretty clean water) with a 1.5 hp Wayne sprinkler pump. It will pump 30 gpm at 40 psi, enough to run 10 lawn sprinklers. If you can get the pump to within 3-5 feet of the water vertical do not use a shallow well pump, they are not very efficient.
