another lawn mower question

the 97 20hp wizard rider I own had an engine failure last night. Been fighting it all summer as deck attatchment peices kept breaking and taking out the $43. drive belt. Got that all fixed now engine has blown. Looking at bottom end lawn tractors %1500 or so. JD D105 17hp 42cut got the new f/n/r shift with hydrostat.2yr warranty. Cub Cadet same setup, same price. 3yr warranty.New holland dealer sells Husvarna..fully hydro,20hp 42cut 2yr on engine,3 on mower with 5 yr on deck shell. $1600. Looking for opinions. Liking the husvarna but reveiws are 13 to 5 against. But reading the reviews brings up the problems are mostly do to selling agent not assembling it correctly or standing behind the assembly. Would rather buy a machine that will last 10yrs than spend the same money or more buying another used model every other yr. Thank you all in advance.

This time of year, you should be able to get a good deal on a good used mower.
Most are pretty god but I would stay away from any Murray mowers..
I feel the Int'l Cub mowers are built too light for what we do.
Dixon mowers are good mowers and have held up well for us.
Best of all we have have been the old Bowlins QT-16 and 17.. we have 3 that are over 30 years old and still take a beating every week..

Take your $1500 and buy a few years old better grade lawn mower would last longer and cost less per year.

FWIIW I have a Husqvarna 2046,going on about 8 years old. From what I understand they put different grade decks on them depending on where they are sold. I bought mine at lowes, grey deck supposedly the lowest. The hangers on mine have all broken at on time or another. The deck material is much thinner than the hangers and had no penetration welds from the factory. mines is covered with weld and fish plates.
Engine is a single cyl Kohler Courage, an 800 hour engine,at just over six mine has blown the crank shaft seal. Still runs fine just have to add oil before each mowing.

Get a JD I have a 212 that is 27 years old other than overhauling the engine 10 years ago and a few belts never had a big fix on it.

I wont tell you what to do, heck I havent looked at mowers in years since I bought my Cub Cadet Commercial. I will say my brother has a 2 year old Husqvarna. Hes been using my CC more this year than his. His stays in the shop for one thing or another. I have a 2006 JD L110 as well I picked up cheap and had it share of steering issues. I now have invested in it what I paid for it, and if it tears up again, its history.

where you located come test drive unit of your choice Dixons have been my hot sellers some husqvanas also. What you rally need to relize is the color you choose is the only difference in over 97% of the mower units out there. i can swap guts to any brand as its same. i have $1750.00 Dixon tractors 46 inch deck hydro kohler 22hp engne been very popular. Zero turn unit 54 inch deck 2995.00 also been very popular. over 50 new units out of shop this season and have all ben the Dixon lineup. Come rie and drive if close

Unless you only have a handkerchief for a lawn, I would get something bigger than the 42" model. Today's 20 hp engine is no more than yesteryears 12 hp rebadged.

I bought a few years ago a JD400 mower with a 60" deck. Even with it being an older machine it has ran just excellent for me. Mower a lawn nice and even. and fast too. A 420 is a new model of the same. I would never go with a Cadet, Husky, or any city folk grade, throw away, mower again.

I bought a box store cub cadet. It has been great. I like the hydrostatic trans and it cuts excellent. The turning radius is super small. I bought it three years ago and only put about 100 hours a year on it. I guess time will tell, but I haven't had so much as a low tire.

Boy, ain't that the truth! Todays "developed HP" is nothing but wishful thinking by an advertising mutt.
