Took an old junk 10 saw blade, drilled out hole, using flat washers as a pressure plate and O-rings as a clutch plate to hold saw blade. Want blade to slip when it hits a fence post.

The blade sticks out over an inch from where the string attaches. Hope this keeps from shearing off string when I get too close to a post. So far it works well.

I knew better than to buy anything with tecumseh engine. The PCV started leaking oil and the carb, which has no adustments, doesn't like to idle. Took carb apart to clean. My luck it may need a carb tool. No need to kick be, I'm already doing a good job of kicking myself.

Ah! You have the Crapsman model. I have an actual DR. Took me a minute to figure why the arbor looked so funny and the primer was facing the wrong direction.

Bret,
I thought I posted this on the Tool talk, where it was a follow up post. There it called it a DR clone. Yes, crapsman. I bought it used and what a mistake.

I have one put out by Yardman that has a Briggs on it . Gave it to my sister in law , said they didn t use it so I hauled it back to Az.
I figured they could use it on the farm in Missouri.

John in AZ.

Wish I had a briggs. I have a 3.5 briggs on a mower. All I would need is an iron flywheel to make it work in my DR clone.

I plan to mount it on the front bucket on my backhoe and keep the fence row clean. That's why I put the 10 in saw blade on it. When I get too close to a post, there goes the string, it gets sheared off.

i threw 3 of those out last year one was a troybilt and was expensive it lasted the longest at about 6 years the others were junk before they were 2 the string heads dont hold up, and when you go the get a replacement head , for another 765 bucks you can get a whole new machine ,wish i had a actual dr mower but with my luck on todays small engins i wont spend the money
