Ford/IH 6.9 liter diesel question

Buddy of mine has an '87 F350 with the 6.9 liter diesel in it. I haven't been able to find any info specific to the '87 year model, but have for the 'generic engines' All of the info I've been able to find on it shows a wire going to the injection pump for a cold start advance but I don't see that setup on his. His has an assembly on the side that looks like it should have two vacuum lines run to it, but neither is connected to anything. Does anyone have a diagram showing the routing of the lines to it? Too, does anyone know where I can find a manual specific to the 6.9 in the '87 trucks? I figure with winter coming everything needs to be right or he's going to have more problems than he needs out of it. Thanks for any advice ya'll can offer. Wayne

Are you saying there is NO HPCA terminal present?

I would guess the vacuum ports are for the automatic transmission"s modulator, (IF used), pump so equipped MAY be installed on a crashbox and the leads left unused.

I have a 1986 in the shop now with a 4-speed manual and electric HPCA IS present, and NO vacuum valve is present.
 
The injection pump should three wires going to it. A shut-down wire, a cold-advance wire and and an idle-solenoid wire. The control with the vacuum hoses hooks the throttle shaft and controls vacuum if the truck has the C6 auto trans. (VRV valve).
 
Thanks, his has the 5 speedmanual so that explains why the vacuum lines aren't hooked to anything. As far as the wiring I'll take another look but I swear I didn't see anything but the one wire to the shutdown solenoid when I looked at it yesterday afternoon. Then again I had several different projects of my own going on, oln several other pieces of equipment, on top of trying to help guide him through some repairs to the truck he was tackeling on his own......so it's extreemly likely I just missed something.
