Dish TV ch 280

I don't want to make this post political. So please keep it that way. I watched ch 280 today at 3 pm eastern, cross talk. All I have to say is WOW, what a learning experience. It gives a totally different prospective of world current events that we will never saw our news media ever mention.

Don't know about Dish 280,but Direct 2119 will too. China Central Television. They don't see us quite the way we see ourselves.

280 must be one of those "optional at extra cost" channels- tried it on my Dish when I got home, nowhere to be found. 'Course, I'm only paying $75 a month, so there's lots more channels I could get if I want to shell out the extra $$$.

Just the opposite, I downgraded to dish's minimum service.

The channel is headline news, HN RT. I had to google it to find out what RT stands for. You can also read some of their comments.

I may not agree with all they have to say, just different to see how the rest of the world views America.

I learned somethings I had no clue about.

he new owners have taken over on Dish ch 215. When my boy's were deployed I read their website to get more current and accurate coverage. Just remember they're all slanted, some more than others.

It's RUSSIA TODAY!!! Nothing has changed George, they are still our enemy and the enemy of anything good. I will readily agree todays USA is in sad, sad shape with another form of Marxist running the gov't, but you'd darn well better understand that propaganda is still propaganda and that places like RT, Al Jezzera USA, Current, Democracy Now and MSNBC are just shouting the party line. If you want real news you're going to have to do the leg work yourself these days.

I discovered it's RUSSIA TODAY, propaganda that is not slanted to the left or right. That's why I said WOW.

My father-in-law was 20, born in Lithuania at the time WWII broke out. His view of the war is nothing like we what were taught in US history class.

When I grew up in N Indidan, a good neighbor was the same age and born in the Ukraine. His view of the war is nothing like we what were taught in US history class.

Same story about a man who lived in Poland at the time.

I don't see what's wrong with looking at what our enemy is saying about the world events, do you? Yes, it's a totally different point of view.

I'm still red, white and blue, but they do make some good points.

Here in America we feel sorry for people that live in places where they can only hear the government side of the issue (propaganda) or practice the state religion (???). We have the freedom to hear both sides of the story and decide for ourselves.

Unfortuantely, about 90% of Americans have already picked a side (party) (this is based upon actual research) and now they no longer read, listen to or watch the issues or point of view of the opposing viewpoint. Honest and open
minded debate of the issues is a really a thing of the past.

We have a choice, and we mostly choose to only hear our predetermined side..over and over and over. Listen to the same newscasters, talk shows and read the same paper every day.

What news in America isn't propraganda spinning to the left or right?

Keep your friends close and your enemy closer. We need to hear all sides, especially our enemy's.

I hear the enemies side all the time. For instance, the Gov't has determined that people who research and actually read things like the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Federalist Papers, believe in the 2nd Amend, attend church, belong to such horrid organizations as the NRA, Tea Party or have libertarian or conservative views are a threat for terrorism, overthrowing the gov't and nifty stuff like that. That's the kind of thing that's readily discovered by reading the news.

You don't get news these days from most sources. What you get is what I've best heard described as "pre-digested pablum". That's why the whole nation wasn't screaming for Hillarys and external_links head after Benghazi for instance. It's why Trayvon was news but the 2 white kids killed in racial attacks in the past couple weeks are non-stories and why Paula Deen, who gives me the creeps personally, took a hit while rap stars and politicians can say far worse with no repercussion. When you read or hear something that sounds odd you have to go hunt up the whole story. It shouldn't be that way.

As far as other views, how much do you want? I know a woman from Jordan who insists to this day there was no nuclear program in Iraq since a ticking nuke addressed to 1600 Pa Ave, Wash DC was never found. (Incidentally, I'm sure a gov't computer is no tracking this thread) When presented with the proof over 500 TONS of yellow cake uranium was found and removed to Canada she still will not believe it. It was all a plot for Bush to steal Iraqs oil she says. It's fine to get both sides, everyone for instance should get both sides of FDRs supposed ending of the Great Depression. Then they'd find out that guy prolonged in by several years. They should look into Prez Wilson imprisoning over 80K Americans citizens just for disagreeing with him. There's a lot of American history that people remain blissfully unaware of. And world history, HAR! Ask people about Nelson Mandela being in on bombing a supermarket and see how many know anything about it!

When RT starts broadcasting programs detailing Russia and the former Soviet Bloc nations failings, historically and currently in vivid detail, then I'll believe in a lack of slant.

We were taught propaganda all thru school.
Now we get mostly corporate propaganda thru our media.
the USA was NEVER a utopia, and was NEVER ALL about freedom and democracy.

We never learn the whole story unless we do listen to several sources of information.
