Where can I have my Yardman 16 hp twin cylinder engine rebuilt or where can I buy a replacement engine? Tractor is a 1979 Yardman 16 HP/18 speed model 14918-0
I live in CT

Being that age, you have a better engine than you will ever be able to buy. Flatheads are in demand by people like me who love the longevity and reliability. It is also all metal. I don't think new engines are 50 percent metal.

Find a mom and pop mower repair place. Something in an old building with bins full of parts covered with dust. Those are the ones that will do you right.

MTD makes an awful lot of products including and beyond Yardman. My brother has them send him replacement parts all of the time. A dollar to a dime says that you call them, get one of the people working their call center, give them the model and year, and they will give you a part number for a replacement that they will ship you direct. And if you want to cut them out of the loop and get the manufacturer of the engine whether it be Briggs, Kohler, or whoever and a model number, a dollar to a dime says you can Google it and find a supplier that could be Northern Tool, or whoever.

Good Luck
