I have a brand new pair of 14.9 x 28 duo grip chains and tractor took a dump so got a different tractor and it has 15.5 x 38 tires wondering if the chains I have will work if I buy more links to get them to be the correct size length wise. Any help greatly appreciated.

The side chains will need to be made longer and then add a few more cross bars. The width of a 14.9 and 15.5 cross chain would be the same.

Do not know where you are located but the better farm supply stores keep the cross chains.

Also watch the auctions. Sometimes you can pickup a set that has one good chain and one bad chain. Use the good one for parts. Scrape the other one.

At my ranch in Black Hawk CO is at 9000' elev, so I have ran chains on everything even my 6 wheel drive road grader. First lesson don't use tightners. They just pull the chain down into the tread. let them flop.

Try hooking them together and see how they fit, you might find another 28 inch pair cheaper than buying the new crossbars, just a thought. chris
