Any simple ideas of how to Demagnetize drill bits?

If I remember right you can put them in a coil of wire that is energized to do that but it has been decades since I played with stuff like that and can not be 100% sure I am remembering things correctly

Try holding it in a vertical position (pointing down) and give it a good hard hit with a hammer. You can magnatize a rod by holding it pointing north and give it a good rap. Can be demagnitized by holding it vertical and giving it a hard rap with a hammer.

Yes but the coil must have AC current flowing through it. Not DC

I knew that just did not know how to spell it. We did that years ago to TV picture tubes and the Navy did it to many of there ships
