Picked almost 30 ears of sweet corn today to finish up the freezer. I probably had a total so far of around 7 dozen ears. I found only one ear with very minor worm damage. In 10 years of having a garden I haven't lost any corn to raccoons--that I can verify. Deer got some one year but for the most part corn has fared very well. I have a few ears left for the table.

A friend today at church told me the coons got his sweet corn last night. Just started picking some a few days ago.

Had a bumper crop. Gave sisters (9) 5 gallon buckets heaping full. Processed and froze 67 Quart bags in one shot and another 20+ quart bags last week and giving away as much as I can.

I will have sweet corn until it gets killed by frost. Only on my 3rd planting at the moment with 3 or 4 more to go. Best sweet corn I've ever raised. Killing 58 raccoon last summer seems to have lessened the pressure this year, I've only taken 7 in the live traps. Worms are no issue this year so far, growing SV9010SA and it is some fine corn. Great plant, good size, great flavor and eating.

Planted two separate plantings about 3 weeks apart. Decided yesterday last of second planting is beyond mature. Wife and DIL canned 104 pints, gave away dozens of ears, (one lady put up 80 ears), donated a feed bag full to the guys/gals that do the steam part of the local steam show, (They steam them in a garbage can with excess steam from an idle engine.) Now, the stalks and remaining ears gop to the sheep over the next week or so. Ccorn has really went downhill fast in the last week. Was nice and green, now turning brown extermely fast.
