You are going to have to show us how that saw sharping thing works. Dad' always used a file, Could hear that saw "ring" 1/2 a mile away.

You better hurry. Didn't I hear that first frost is
just a couple of weeks away?
Why don't you get that air dog to help? Or is he
still busy keeping the dust down under the machines?

Do your blades have replaceable teeth? The mills
around here do. They also create a TREMENDOUS amount
of sawdust! It don't take long for the pile to get
REALLY big! The mill I can see from my house has two
piles over 30' tall. It only took 6 months for the
one pile to be made.

Most of the mills around here sell the sawdust for cow/horse bedding, Depending on what kind of wood it is

Most of this is Oak. They have tried to give the stuff away, and no takers. I've hauled a bunch home, but it hasn't made a dent.

lyle niemi,
St. Mary of the woods college heats their entire place with wood chips. People drop off limbs and branches, they chop them up.

Over 50 years a furniture factory used saw dust to heat their factory and kiln dry the wood. The guy made up a real neat hopper for the saw dust. Had a fan rigged up to blow the saw dust in to the boiler past a gas pilot light. The saw dust burned like a blow torch.

Most sawmills generate lots of sawdust. This would generate free heat for you.

Sawmills in my area now ship their sawdust to places that make wood pellets for corn burning stoves too.

BTW, My dad's hobby was an old 48 inch bellsaw sawmill. I think he did it just to make sawdust.

Been following your posts. Keep up the good work.

Now you will have to get some big overhead lights to be able to see on those long dark Valleyview, Alberta days.

Yeah a couple of the mills used to have contracts with a university, but they quit heating with dust - in favor of wood chunks. The mill closest to my house (I live near at leat 7 of them) had a "pellet" company come look at their pile. They said it was "30 miles outside their territory", and left.
