OT---Security System Battery

I have a Honeywell Home & Barn Security system. My system started acting weird and I discovered it was informing me that the battery is low. The system has a small 12V battery.
This may be a silly question to some, but can I get by--until Monday by using a small 12Volt car battery placed near the basement panel and hooked up?
My system is now dead and Monday is the soonest I can get one.
 
I get my security system batteries from napa.
They seem to work as well as the high priced ones the alarm company sells.
 
12 volts DC is 12 volts DC. Your larger battery will just have a larger reserve. Make sure the polarity is right.
