Looks like the local corn market will be strong for awhile. JACK DANIELS today announced today a 100 million dollar expansion. Will in essence just about double the capacity . Tennessee whiskey at it,s best.

There is a 20" x 20" room in the visitor center you end the tour in that just happens to sell JD . They got a special deal with the county about 10yrs ago. Only place in the county.

Old : Really only about 14 of the 90 so counties left dry now. Several only have package stores no bars but quite a bit of liquor bought and sold in Tenn and a lot made.

I used to drink Jack Daniels because that's what my friends drank. A couple years ago I tried several different brands just to see what else was out there. With the little that I do drink now the only thing I buy is Wild Turkey Rye 101.

Years ago I worked with a fella from Tenn. He brought in a mason jar of stuff that looked like kerosene. Called it "Block and Tackle"..said after ya took a few swigs, it would make ya want to run a block and tackle somebody!

Got a bottle of Jack Daniels and Jim Beam for Christmas.Liked the Jim Beam much better.I would like to see a taste test run on whiskeys.Wonder if anyone could ID their favored brand.

Basil Hayden distilled in Frankfort ky best I have had so far, maker's mark and crown royal good straight, Jack Daniels is good 1/2 whiskey 1/2 sprite...doesn't mask the whiskey flavor like coke does.

I could be full of pudding, but I belive I could tell my whiskey, if only ice or water were used, as a mixer! I kicked Jack Daniels to the curb after trying George Dickles. It has a true sour mash taste, and is filtered thru Maple charcoal. I reckon that they are not too far from the Jack Daniels distillery.

Jack Daniels is Tennessee whiskey.

Knob Creek, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, and Basil Haden's are bourbon.

Crown Royal is Canadian whiskey.

No sense comparing apples to oranges to peaches.

JC in [b:8dbbe29c47]KY[/b:8dbbe29c47], please don't insult my bourbon...but hey they're all delicious. Just add ICE.

Have done this experiment on a nonscientific basis many times, especially with the "purist" ice/water mixer only imbibers. Many claim they could ID their booze blindfolded, with their nose tied behind their back. The vast majority cannot-even on a first drink-let alone on the subsequent ones. Scotch drinkers seemed to be the most adamant (and wrong). Used to win quite a few friendly bets on it while tending bar as a tad.

Nephew gave me a bottle of Jack Daniels Single Barrel. He got it from a customer. It sells for 40 bucks.I didnt care for it at all.A Friend tended bar many years ago.I used to help him fill bar bottles with a whiskey that cost 3 bucks a bottle after closing time.He had 2 bottles on the bar, one behind the other.Front bottle contained the real thing, back bottle the 3 buck stuff.I couldnt tell the difference.

You're right... but in my world I'll take my Crown Royal over Jack any day. Crown is an enjoyable drink. Jack... not so much.
If you want something that will knock you an your a$$, try some Glen Breton Ice...

Agreed... First whiskey I tried was Jack... and that was the last for a long time until I tried Crown. No comparison.
