FORD 2000 INDUSTRIAL STEERING

WRONGWAY

New User
Hi there, my 1964 2000 industrial has the diesel
engine and power steering. Topic being, the power
steering works very poorly, stiff, ect. Have checked
the obvious, fluid level and filter, pump is quiet.
Any advice ? Thanks Bill

I assume this tractor has a steering cylinder on both sides of the tractor?
Could be the pump even if it's quiet. Got any kind of a gauge you could attach inline on the pressure side?
It should read about 650 psi if working correctly.
The hydraulic valve on those units do get gummed up sometimes. Rust and crud can get in there and stop the little plungers from moving properly.
They are not hard to take apart and clean. Check for broken springs and put new seals in above and below the hyd block.
You will need a manual for it. Buy the I&T FO-20 manual - available from this great site.
It looks like you are new here.
In the future I would ask questions about that tractor on the Ford board.
Good bunch of guys there can help you if you ask.
