Kevin Happke: How do you start ground cherries from seed, when, in what, etc.? What different varitities (sp) are there? I would appreciate a few seeds. I would be glad to pay for them.

You can get chokecherry and nanking cherry bush seedlings from your county agent in the spring. About a dollar and a half. They recommend them in wildlife tree claims.
I picked about 8 gallons of chokecherries couple weeks ago. And plums, and apricots and peaches.

Try SeedSavers Exchange in Decorah, Iowa. They sell a variety called Aunt Molly's Ground Cherry for $2.75/packet of 50 seeds. I grew them one year, started them from seed indoors sometime in January, then transplanted with the tomatoes. SSE has seeds for a lot of older varieties of vegetables, and also sell some seedlings.
