It's been 20 years... I can take the paper bag off my head

Go Pirates!

Finally!

It's been over 20 years since I watched Sid Bream slide across home plate for the win in game 7 of the national league championship series.

That was the last time the Pirates had any kind of shot for a world series.

This year, I am taking that paper bag off my head and proudly proclaiming: The Bucs are Back!

(but let's not talking about how the Braves have a better record than the Pirates right now. Do I want the Pirates to face the Braves again in a championship series? It gives me chills!)

To keep this tractor related- PNC park uses New Holland tractors for field maintenance. Three Rivers Equipment used to service and sell to them. Same thing with the City of Pittsburgh. At one time, they had a fleet of over 20 Ford tractors painted white for maintenance. I don't know what they run now. I'm sure most of them have been replaced.

John, I have to admit, the Pirates are having an
incredible season. HOWEVER... My Reds are
building up steam, and is making a race out of it.
Going to be an interesting few weeks for both of us.

I watched the Pirates whack the Yankees with a Mazeroski homer in 1960. Didn't get any better than that for a guy who bleeds Dodger Blue.

I am glad to see the Buc's back and winning, but I was cheering like
crazy when Sid made the slide. A great moment in Braves history! I
lived on Atlanta's northside and it was electric around town.

Now that you've 'come outta the bag', put it back
on. You'd break a kevlar camera lens......

Go Buccos!!!
It's nice to know I wasn't alone with a bag on my head!
For the last twenty I've cheered the Steelers, and the Pens, even though baseball is my favorite. They finally didn't trade or selloff the talent in July! You'll have to excuse me now, the game's coming on!
Dave

After tonight, I am putting the bag back on!!!

ARGH!!!

I hope that I get some redemption... I was still in school in 1992. I stayed up on a school night to watch that game. Everyone in class was a walking zombie. The teacher was too.

I don't know what else to say, except that I will not stay up again. School is one thing. Work, when you can loose a finger if you loose concentration, is another thing.

Sid Bream, I dislike you!

There are plenty of games left, so lets just hope that we get a fair shot and can make some playoff games. Baby steps, right? Let's make the playoffs, then go from there.

For any other Pittsburgh non-fans. Just remember, if we don't get you in baseball, you better sleep with one eye open because in hockey or football, we might CRUSH YOU!

(just wishful thinking rhetoric on my part. You know I love all of God's USA, but Pittsburgh would be God's choice if he were a true sports nut.)

The next game is another war. I trust in my team. They will win the battle, and then, they will win the war!

Don, Did you see me undressing through the window? I thought that was you outside my window. Just a warning, the last guy who saw that, had to be resuscitated. Hope you brought your own defibrillator!

Bob, it took over 20 years, but this is going to be the rematch! Sid Bream can't help you now! Look out for the Jolly Roger flying around your city when the Buccos claim a pennant!

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER! This is our year! It has been over 30 years(1979) since we got that title. This is the year!

Saw the World Series trophies that the Galbreath's had at their place (Darby Dan Farm) on the west side of Columbus, OH. from the time when they were the owners. Impressive hardware! Was at a United Way reception they were hosting in the party house, along with all the wild animal mounts and other trophies and memorbilia they had. Interesting that years later have become good friends with the Millers who bought the farm directly across the Big Darby Creek from Darby Dan when they sold their building supply business.
