OT Weird Clouds

These were taken in Beaufort SC in Dec 2012. There were several of these around you can see some others in the background. Any one know what its called?

No, I don't know what they are called, but they are neat! :)
 
Those are classic summer afternoon anvil clouds. At the back end of those things is a giant thunderstorm. Nice pictures.
 
Never knew what they were called, but the ash from Mt. St. Helens eruption in 1980 formed into those mammatus clouds as it was spreading in the air- with lightning between the nodules. They were grayish black. It was pretty impressive.
