worms in potatoes

Dug up a few potatoes today and set them on the counter to be washed, well a few minutes later the potatoes had tiny little white worms coming out and I noticed the skin of the potato is rough and patchy. I think they are called ring worms. The questions I have can I just peel them and cook them. Are they safe to eat? or do I have put them in the compost pile. I have three rows about 300 feet of potatoes !!!!!

The worms will add some protein to all those carbs- but I prefere my taters without protein.

Do not compost those potatoes, burn them in a brush pile.Check other parts of the rows. The pesticides that would work are no longer available.Talk with your county agent.
