RANT--OT--Grass!!!

In the past, I have vowed to never cut my grass when it was wet. Watched it get pretty bad, but not like this.
Been three weeks since it was last cut and it could be bailed now!!!
Grass finally got dry enough to mow, made two passes around my lawn and it came a downpour!
I live in a nice neighborhood where we all have acreage, but theirs is just as bad as mine.
What happened to the annual drought where everything burns up with 6 to 10 weeks of no rain in N.W. Alabama ????

When I had my ranch I used to mow the yard with a twelve foot swather and then pick up the windrows by hand and put on a trailer.

hey jiles, i'm in new bethel. i cut grass last tues. raised the mower and
cut it tall, lowered mower and cut at regular height then cut it again after
the balled up grass dried to scattered it. finally got it to looking good.
rained nearly every day since. today i raised mower height again and cut
grass and then rain set in again. raining now and forecast again tomorrow.
cutting about 2 acres. still remember the drought of 2007.

We've got the same situation in Central Ohio, I haven't been able to get all mine done at once, with work and critters and shows and meetings (and broken belts, worn out tires, frozen pulleys and other breakdowns don't help either). It needs it at least once a week and can't seem to get to it. It rained here Sunday and not expecting any this week so I might get lucky and get some done in an evening. Takes about 2 1/2 hrs. to do it all. Have also mowed pastures twice, one field three times, and they might need it again... that's unheard of in the 11 yrs. we've been here. On the bright side, the corn and beans around us look fantastic, there's one place behind the house where the beans are chest high to me, and I'm 6'2" tall.
