New to me old skidder with a cummins 8.3 6CTA. Any one
with one on here?

am collecting the appropriate filters. I have the fuel and the
coolant filters. When doing the fuel, do I just undo them fill the
new ones screw them on, and prime up with the pump?

The coolant one just swap it and refill? Looks like it will lose a
lot of volume?

Your dead on with the fuel filters. As far as the coolant filter, there is usually some sort of a valve in the system to prevent loss of coolant when changing the filter. If not find yourself two pairs of pliers designed to clamp off the lines and use them in lieu of a true valve. Given the cost of antifreeze nowdays the pliers really aren't that expensive, especially when they can be used elswhere when needed.

If memory serves me correctly- my two 8.3's have the same coolant filter base, on the right front of the head area, with a shut off on top. They can get hard to turn. A little penetrant helps. Unlike my L10, (which has a plastic shut off mounted horizontally on the right rear) these are steel, so you can get right on them with pliers, a wrench, etc.
