Dodge 3500 radio need help

this is not tractor related, but I know that someone will know the answer on this board. I have a 1995 Dodge 3500. When I got it the truck has the factory radio with no CD, or other hookups. I recently installed a new stereo and it was pretty simple. The problem is this. It sounds awesome when the radio is playing, but when you put in a CD or MP3 it has no low end at all. You can move the sound to the bass speakers and you can barley hear it when you put it 50/50 front and back it sounds louder but like crap. What is my problem. The low end is fine with the radio on. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps your new "From the Land of Almost Right" whiz-bang replacement stereo is defective?

First, read the op manual to see if there are some separate equalizer settings for each function of the unit.

is this a factory cd.. or a cd burned from downloaded mp3 files.

many mp3 fiels you find online are high compression, low quality. on the high compression files. low end is the first thing to get zapped.

( yes.. the handle 'soundguy' menas i'm a sound engineer... )

If a standard factory cd is playing with no low end.. do as bob says and look for aux eq settings. if none, and radio sounds good..I'd almost guess the input sections for the aux in's is lacking .. ie.. either crap equipment.. or not functioning correctly.

i just put an aftermarket rado in my f350.. the cd section has more bass than radio.. just due to fidelety limitations of seperation on the fm signal.. etc..
