John T/RRLund bluegrass question?

Can you guys think of any group who recorded "Back in Hancock County Tennesse" besides Daily&Vincent? I have searched you-tube, and all I can find is the D&V cut of it. There was another band that did it and it was a lot better in my opinion(not as tight/perfect as D&V if that makes sense)XM/sirius used to play it pretty often but I had to give my subscription up. Thanks in advance!

Was it "The Traditional Grass" band?????? A Pete Goble song, darn if I know.....

I gotta do another You Tube Video so yall can see how I havent improved the last 3 yrs lol At a jam I go to this 11 yo boy has only been playing banjo like 5 months and he can already blow my doors off DONT WAIT TILL YOURE OVER 60 TO TAKE UP THE FREAKIN BANJO it just aint ever gonna work grrrrrrrrrrrr

Too freakin OLD John T

According to an archived thread on Mandolin café, you are correct on both. Pete Goble wrote it and Traditional Grass Band recorded it.

Lucky for me, I skipped the banjer phase and evolved straight into dobro!

Been pickin" the grass fer nigh onto 40 years now! Used to play banjo using a guitar pick due to the loss of my right hand first finger tip. One day, a friend told me to pitch that durn flat pick, and learn how to do it the right way! Then and there--i tossed the flat pick, slipped on the thumb and finger picks, and re-learned how to pick the banjo. Didn"t take very long at all--"bout 4 weeks. At first, the short finger didn"t want to get involved, but i finally forced the issue, and now it does well, along with the other fingers. Turned out not so hard after all! RJ

Traditional Grass, as others said, had a splendid version of Back in Hancock County Tennessee.
