Just talked to the local one and he said in all the time they have dealt with rain and flood it has never been like this before. Got up to a river instead of a drive way and my field look more like a pond then a field. Rain gauge had another 3 inches in it this morning and it did not start raining till some time after 7am so 3 inches in less then 3 hours on top of the 8-10 inches we have had all week

No not a lot it is way way to much. I plan to go out and take a few pictures here in a bit but may need to find one of the boats to do so

Sorry do not agree with you. Texas needs rain as do many in other places but here in south central Missouri some have had 15 plus inches in less then a week and are having real trouble. Cars and houses under water and people well lets just say a few have sadly gone to meet there maker

Just bring a big truck and a bigger tank and you can have all the water you want. Believe me if I could I would give it to you and then some.

Not to downplay you at all old . But it is interesting to see people react when the natural problems hit you instead of someone else. Your family is starving to death in africa or we slip on down to the burger king for an uneeded snack. Makes a person wonder.

Really sorry to hear about your water problems and possible loss. Seems like either too much or not enough in every part of the country. In my part of the world we have had the best rainy season (monsoon) in many years. Over double the yearly total already. But, too little to late. Wells are going dry that are 300+ feet deep. We had to lower our pump as far as it would go. Property we just sold had their well run dry 2 weeks after they moved in. Getting a little water. Not much. Even though it really isn't my problem anymore, I still set them up with a tank and pump and I'm hauling water from my place and will for as long as I still have water. Taking more today. Makes me feel really bad that this happened. If there had been any way of knowing we never would have sold the property.

Sounds almost like Nashville, TN in 2010. Nashville recieved over 20 inches of precipitation in less than 48 hours. It was a real mess. My parents live around 50 miles south of Nashville and only recieved around 18 inches in two days but that was enough to close main highways for several months. They used pig paths and logging roads on ridegetops to get everywhere. Getting anywhere required using dirt roads for many miles. My mothers car stayed parked for a few months. They went everywhere in the 4X4. Large freight had to take 60-80 mile detours.

Hopefully at least the main roads wont be destroyed in your area.

Somebody told you a tall one! I mowed my yard the day after the rains left. Sure, there was flooding, but the roads weren't impassable for months!

Matt, I dont know which part of the state you occupy but if you'll go back and check the record books you'll find that state HWY 50 between Shady Grove and Anderson Bend was closed for 2 months and more than one portion of HWY 7 between Columbia and Dickson was closed for over 6 months.

If you'll also check the National Weather Service records youll also find out how much rain fell in Centerville during the spring of 2010.

There's no tall tale here, but rather that you didnt see areas of heavy rain. I live in the NW corner of the state and we only saw around 6 inches over those two days which led to only normal flooding of the Obion River in our area. Areas south of here such as Dyersburg and Humboldt saw the heavy flooding similar to Middle TN.

Watching the Cumberland real close. 600+ acres of beans in river bottom and looks like now they are going to get a foot of water or so. They are saying river will not peak here now till Sunday night, rising about inch an hour.

You remember in the year 2000 when just up I44 from you in Franklin County we had 14 inches in 6 hours? We had 3 inches in the house which was on high ground. Outside the cars and everything else had water inside. You have my sympathy and you will survive this. It's tough now to look at but things will be better than before when it's all behind you. Keep your chin up.

This is not the first time I have weathered floods like this. Back in 1986 water got with in 1 inch of getting in the house I had then so when I got this house I made sure it was where water had not been in 86. But yep sometimes it seem to get harder on a person but maybe that is just age setting in LOL. Live threw the tornado's of 2003 and the ice storm of 2007 so just one more thing that life throws at a person to coop with
