Rain rain and more rain

Well yesterday got up and the rain gauge said 2 inches. This morning it said 2.25 inches and it is still spitting out there. We have had some rain every day since Saturday and the weather guessers are calling for rain every day for the next 7 days.
But hey my Peppers and Tomato's are starting to look better but maybe that is because of the horse manure we put around them and this rain has it giving them a big kick

Old, you need to quit paying the preacher so much! I need to start paying him a little more! I'm maybe 45 miles north of you and we've missed out on all those rains prior to this morning when we got a wonderful 2 inches. 'Really nice.

Ya and the weather guessers say as you go south they get more. Some area have gotten 4-5 inches per day. Been dry enough here that the way it is coming down it soaks in instead of running off. Went and looked at a small creek by my place and it has just a little water running in it instead of what I expected to see

I was looking at the infrared radar, maybe Saturday, and the most intense pocket of rain was over Missouri, it was not the usual orange, was going purple, looked like a dangerous thunderstorm. After weeks of rain, high humidity and some high heat at times, the jet stream and the high pressure or what, weather is perfect. 39% humidity, high of 80 deg F, sunny and dry, so much better to work outside, biting insects are gone,'cept the skeeters after dark, its amazing what some decent weather can do. Been at it since its been like this, wore out, taking it easy today, work on the tractor so I can get out and start mowing again.

That rain ought to do the tomatoes some good, soak in some nitrogen. I like to side dress those with dried blood before a rain, works well. My tomatoes are ok, I think they would be better caged, (next year) cherry tomatoes doing well, they climb up the fence as I plant them on the edge. Jet Star tomatoes will give me the best production, I have seen better in some years, but the big boys will probably give me one round and quit, they take longer. Certainly cannot complain, no blight, or cutworms, and I plant on the same ground mostly, hard to rotate in a small space. Bell peppers just take so long too, but they are lush, and I see a fair amount of flowers, but maybe I need something to boost the flower production, have to be careful with nitrogen on those, I did load the trench with the right fertilizer, some match heads too, as well as some epsom salts. Broccoli gave me another cutting last night, sure is some good stuff !

Steer a good rain event up here will you? All we get is clouds and drizzle. Had another half a tenth over night. They say rain tonight after midnight. I don't doubt it,but I'll be amazed if we get over a tenth again. I really could use a good heavy soaker. Only think keeping things from burning up and the low temps. Average for this time of year is 82,we've had 13 days straight below 80. Not all that warm today.

sounds like here 5 days of rain and storms some BAD south of me about 40 miles they got 1 1/2 foot of hail last Friday then last night we got some hail along with the rain thankfully I do not think I lost to much in my Barley and Oats

My fuel drum that I filled from bone dry 2 weeks ago had enough water in it to get over the 2" I have it raised, and fill the quart water filter, and fill the tractors water bowl such that it quit shortly after. There are no opening in the drum, its just leakage around the pump body threaded into the bung. I've emptied the 6" deep kiddie pool twice after noticing it overflowing and a couple of times with 2-3 inches in it.

Well, I"m about the same situation as Randy. Cloudy and off and on light showers for the last 3 days....3 tenths! I"m wanting some of those 2" jobs to kick my grass hay!

Yep. Send it up to SD. Got a couple 10-15 hundrend. Would love an inch or two. That would finish up my beans for the year and help the garden as well. The rains have been good for the corn as some areas around got an inch or better in july, so the corn should finish out good. Rain in August makes beans and that is what I need. Good lord will give us what we deserve.

Hey Billy,

Not to hijack Richs' thread I was just wondering how far up you are.

I am in Malone and have got a few ripe tomatoes and peppers are growing well.

We finally are having decent weather but I am spending it up working on the roof.

Brad.

I'm outside of Troy, probably about the same garden report, I planted June 5th this year, what a wash out June was, don't like the weather, don't worry, it'll change LOL !

Hard to complain about rain in August, but there's a family mourning over in Pulaski county. Someone got washed away in a flash flood.

Last summer couldn't buy a drop of rain here in Southeast Kansas. In the last 2 weeks we have had right at 17 inches. Predicted to rain most every day the rest of this week

Ya last yea it was the same here at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Got all of 30 or so big round bales last year. This year my hay barn is almost full and if it stops raining before it is all washed away we should have a good 2nd cutting of hay but do not know where I'll put it

Ya been hearing a lot of th flash flood type of things today when I went to town. Almost didn't get out of my driveway due to how bad it has washed out. Just got in from trying to find the driveway and even got rained on doing that

I always heard the statement "that some people would complain if hung with a new rope" and I have no idea what that means, but 100 miles north of you it is as dry as a popcorn fart with no relief in sight.Same type forcast,30-40% chance everyday this week.

I'm in the same boat. Lost a few acres of hay. Finally got it rolled up the other day. 30 5x6 bales with 12 inches of rain on it. New grass is growing fast also. Won't do any good unless it dries out one of these days

Ya last year we could not get a drop of rain. This year it has gone the other way around and not often you get much if any rain in Aug here but the weather guessers say rain each and every day for the next 7 days. A number of houses where destroyed down close to Ft Lost in the Woods

Ya and my law needs mowed last week but every day it is to wet to cut it. May need to find some bricks and boards and make a walk way to the barn etc or walk in knee deep grass that is wet

They guessed wrong here old. Said t storms for Sunday. We got a little sprinkle. I dident cut any hay and it was great from Friday to today! Lost out this time. I hope next weekend it as good. Lol. I just want to finish the hay already.!

Ya I held back time and time again this year because the weather guessers said rain and we got none. Then when I would cut hay it would rain but got lucky that all we would get was a 1/10 of an inch so no harm to the hay

Any more I use a push mower with baggier so as to have mulch for the garden. No way to use it in wet grass unless you want it to die all the time due to clogging up
