tractor not running

2500a IH tractor, tractor will fire up, will not stay running, getting gas, getting spark , sounds good when its on. ?????? need some help?

First thing to do is to remove the drain plug from the carb. If the gas dribbles out, you have an obstruction. Some carbs. have a filter in the inlet. My C was doing the same thing. I pulled the filter and after tapping it against the work bench an obstruction came loose and I was able to remove it.

a wise guy with a voltmeter could save you headaches ,, i have neither except for the headache and Sympathize with you/// ,disconnect switch wire +side of coil and run a wire direct from + on battery post ..if you pull start you can disconnect all wires bells and whistles to see if it will run ////, been fight;n 511 b case ,, for the last month ..could be ignition switch , coil , condenser, a wobbly distributer shaft,or even a pesky deadshort trikle in a voltage regulater , or like on this 511 a shorted out distributer plate ,that is todays hunch ,. currently the distributer is in pces on my tailgate,, will put it together at 1st lite , the weights under the plate were rusty nasty , and not workin to advance tinming ,, they are now ,, bet that 511b will lean into a pull now with Gusto

Check spark to see if it is a failing coil or if OK the fuel delivery to the carb. Screen in the sediment bowl, and at the carb fitting. Steady soda straw flow. Jim
