2 Less theifs/bandits

Been working on getting ahead of the coons before the sweet corn is ready. been using the Fly Bait and grape soda concoction and a couple large marshmallows. Noticed that the containers have been empty. On the second round, finally saw two dead ones about 5 feet away. Thought if they were cleaning them out , I would have found more. I hope the coyote is liking the stuff also. Spotted one at the edge of my yard one morning. Think he getting my cats. Didn't think they would be that aggressive to come upto the yard like that.

coons, like other forms of wildlife are losing their fear of man. killed one at the bird feeder mid afternoon the other day. deer have wizened up and know when to feed and how to feed even though many tactics are taken to deter them. deer have also varied their diet to include: tomato vines including green and red tomatoes, okra plants and the pods, pepper plants and fruit. included also are the usual, green beans and field peas. did i mention, ornamental gourd vines? this is in nw al. skunks are also exhibiting less seclusion.

Have found a wire about 6 to 8 inches off the ground ,electrfied by a very hot electric fencer
does the best job. have not been trouble with those vermits since using it for over 12 years.
Cut or spray for weeds, however they too get burned. Unless they are to thick.

You are aware that is illegal as all get out, right? I personally would never even consider such malicious lawlessness, but if I ever did, I sure wouldn't be bragging about it on the internet.;) Hunters and trappers take this subject real serious.

givent he hours coon and possum are out.. I've always found it easier to live trap them using cat food and cut fruit scraps... That's never failed to cage a coon if I thought one was out near my chix pens...

(quoted from post at 18:54:24 08/01/13) You are aware that is illegal as all get out, right? I personally would never even consider such malicious lawlessness, but if I ever did, I sure wouldn't be bragging about it on the internet.;) Hunters and trappers take this subject real serious.

You are aware that even if some good samaritan emailed the LEO about the above statements, the po-po would have to [b:7b183a51fc][i:7b183a51fc]prove[/i:7b183a51fc][/b:7b183a51fc] that something happened. Given the tight resourses that the police have now days and the likehood that thinning the coon herd wouldnt even bump somebodys "Give-a-crap meter", its a fair assumption that nothing will happen to the OP. Im sure he will keep us posted on that siutuation but untill he gets proven guilty, we can assume its just a made up story.;)

Trappers take the above talk seriously because they are under the false assumption that if a landowner removes a nuisance animal, its an animal that the trapper could have taken for themselves. The problem is, thats just not true and untill animals start learning and abiding by landowner boundries, then nuisance animals will continue to be controlled.

Lumpie- I'm a trapper and coons destroy my corn every year. A 220 bucket set is best and instant relief! Baited with marshmallows during trapping season. 8)

Here's how I fence my corn. It usually works good, but a couple of years ago about a half dozen got in one night and wrecked everything. A big patch would be harder, of course.

I heard pumpkins planted around the outside of sweet corn kept the coons out. Tried it the last couple of year's and worked good. I know there around as I see their little nature made piles. So far so good and I will continue planting my pumpkins until I find out different.

I get it. BUT SSS means Shoot, Shovel, and SHUT UP.

In my case I will not lose any more poultry to varmints. I live trap and relocate.

It's perfectly legal around here to protect livestock from predation.
