Speaking of dogs, last Saturday night I saw a first. A blind lady had her guide dog in church. It is really something special to see an animal helping someone make it though life.

Hi, I just wanted to add a little something:
We have 11 dogs--all rescued. We"re married 32yrs. no kids but they are like our kids.
1 Doxie/corgi mix from Alabama from when Katrina hit she was in a shelter for 6mos. 1 blk lab local shelter, lab/beagle mix local shelter. 1 yellow lab from SC she had heartworm and no one would adopt her( she"s cured) 1 y. lab from IN from high kill shelter. 1 y lab from KY also high kill shelter. 1 collie from a local farm that was ready to shoot him to many dogs. 1 cattle dog mix same farm shot other siblings mother hit with car. 1 y lab from NH owner went to nursing home. 1 beagle with epilepsy left out on hwy with seizures. 1 mixed ret. from another farm that I rescued 7 pups and got good homes for the rest.
My point is that if you can offer a good home to a dog-why not get one. Think of it as saving another dogs life. I know it sounds crazy. But all my friends at the office trust me too watch there dogs while on vacation. They come here and see how great they have it and they know the dog won"t be homesick. This is my passion. I don"t spend money on my hair, nails or going to the gym.
etc. etc. I enjoy the country life with my pals.
(it"s kinda like people who have one kid and don"t take care of them, but then the folks down the road have 7 and there all taken care of and are nice kids. Think of making another pup get a good home. Check out petfinder.com
I hope you don"t think I"m being to pushy, I wish you the best.

hopadoe I don't think your being pushy at all. I do appreciate knowing (if only briefly) on this forum having such a big heart when it comes to animals like you describe. From your writing it comes thru loud and clear, you love animals. Thanks for your kind reply, Respectfully,
LOU and Family

pete,
My sister used to raise Shepherds for the police and sight impaired programs, that is how we got our first Shepherd. It was my birthday present when I was younger (way younger). She brought him to our house, put him in our bedroom, with a big ribbon around his neck. Told me Happy Birthday, Brother. One of the best presents I recieved in my lifetime.Thank you again,
Regards,
LOU

Jed,
Oh my.
What a delight, please take good care of him,as he looks like he's chocked full of love.Something we all need. Our house is lonesome now that Chino was called away. Today we received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from our veterinary clinic.Very unusual, never had that happen before. They too loved Chino, always commented, "what a handsome big fellow". Thank you for sharing your picture of your pal.
Warmest regards,
LOU & Family.

Thesmoothedeere,
Beautiful friends, just like children playing tug of war. What a wonderful picture that lightens my heart,as all pictures do. Thank you so much.
Warmest regards,
LOU & Family

Barbara,
We share your grief. It's difficult for us to understand what a short span of life our pals experience. We have them such a short time and then the different damnable diseases show up and take them from our home and heart. This we can't understand.Bless your heart,we send our sympathy and condolences to you and your family. With our warmest regards,
LOU &Family.

Dan,
Thats a face anybody could love, thank you for the picture of your pal.Give him a hug and pat for us.
Warmest regards,
LOU & Family.

LOU, recently we acquired a miniture snauzer(sp?) that was going to be put out because the owners were done with him. i have always had big dogs, but at 27 pounds he is a fun companion to have around. always glad to see you and lets you know it. he has brought enjoyment to our 7 yr old german shepard too.

somewhere, sometime, another dog may be looking for you...

My condolences on the loss of your friend. We almost lost our St. Bernard to heartworm many years ago when they first found heartworm. He was a very sick doggy for a long time after the treatment. We are religious about the preventative since then, you should be too now.
