OT: Lexmark printer question

Contact Lexmark customer service. I had a print head error on a 3+ year old Lexmark printer. Contacted TS thru their web site. They sent a new print head and 4 new ink cartridges for free. Fixed the problem.

CHARLES B. JACKSON,
You know we are suppose to buy a new ink cartridge when we run out, it's only about $2000 a gallon.
If you look at the end of the cartridge you should see 4 or more gold spots, you use to be able to buy a chip fix to re-set them or you could go to a ink refilling place in some malls.

I have a chip fix for Epson, if I put in a brand new cartridge, then take it out it won't work unless I chip fix it.

Check here for cheap ink, also available in USA. http://123tonerandink.com/contents/en-ca/d27_lexmark-inkjet.html

Google it. I'm sure there is a way to "fool" your printer. I have trouble with my laser printer telling me it's out of toner when there is plenty left. I put a piece of tape over the magic eye.

Lexmark is formerly part of IBM. IBM's small printer facility was in Lexington, KY. Lexmark is now owned by some Chinese company.

Since I'm retired from IBM, I felt a loyalty to buy a new Lexmark printer when I bought a new printer about two years ago. It has been a royal PITA since day one.

My wife told me last night that we need to junk this one and buy a new, different brand printer. I suppose that is going to happen soon.

I've tried refilling cartridges, and it never works very well. I've tried Staples brand recycled substitutes, same result. I need good quality printing with no "haze" for my business, so I keep going back to HP, and new HP cartridges when I need them.

Tried a Brother- Once! After about 3 cartridges, it needs a new "drum", which costs more than a new printer. I went with the new printer, and you can be sure it wasn't another Brother.

We gave up on inkjets and bought a Brother colour scanner laser printer. Way cheaper than ink and doesn"t gum up smear or plug
