445 long parts source

Long tractors of that vintage where built in Romania by the Uzina Tractor Brasov (UTB)Company. When long was bought out by Escort Group of India and turned into the "FarmTrac" brand, the parts for the UTB tractors got to be hard to get. There are a few suppliers in England that seem to be able to get parts but they are expensive.

Buddie has/had a Long 460. It took him almost a year to find a hydraulic pump for his. Once he got it running again he sold it.
 
Danny Bowes at Import Tractor up in Ontario Canada will fix you right up with brand new parts for your Long and he charges for Long parts about 1/3 of what Deere and New Holland charge for their parts.And has about any part for your tractor.
 
It would have been kind of hard to look on Ebay. There was no Ebay then. LOL. The WWW has really helped the parts issue on the not so common tractors and equipment. You can find stuff thousands of miles away in a short time.

Also I think it took time for there to be a secondary parts supply for the Longs. They where a bear to get parts for awhile. I am glad there is some place to get them from now.

As far as JD and the parts cost. I am not getting in the "value" argument with you tonight. Here is a FACT: what company is still in business and what one is not???? So if I just have one tractor that I am not depending on for my livelihood than I might buy a Long. But I would not own it if I had to depend on it to make my living with.

I am not knocking the Long tractor it is just a fact about the company. There are others that have had the same thing happen to them. Might not have been a bad tractor but no dealers and hard to get parts for. So they are not an option in my operation. I am glad that they find a place with other guys.
 
Thanks for the lead on the Canadtan source. I bought parts from them before for a Oliver but had forgotten them. I've had great service from Fiat built tractors. Of course John Deere has always serviced me well on the parts I got there,vaseline by the front door.
