Our pond has a lot of bluegills and sunfish in it. Years ago all the sunfish took over the pond ,I did some reading and research and found out that sunfish must be harvested every so often or they will take over,We fished out two five gallon pails of them, then in the next two years the bluegills and sunfish grew bigger in size, and more bass were in the pond.I was talking to my friend at work about it,telling him it was time to take out some sunfish and bluegills again. He said he likes to eat them.He went fishing in our pond last week.He threw back all the bass, each picture is a different bass he caught, and he kept 60 sunfish bluegills, and the sunfish bluegills were still biting hard when he stopped fishing. It was a day after anight of heavy rain the pond was murky but the moss was washed off the top of the pond.He sent me these pictures because him and another one of my best friends are always talking about who is a better fisherman,I think my other friend may have to shake his hand when he sees this!
The first bass was caught at the neighbors pond ,the rest were at our pond.I never fished the pond too much over the years, never had time ,but this guy really knows how to fish!!

I've never tried sunfish, but years back, there was a teamster shop steward on a jobsite I worked on in Brooklyn, NY and he mentioned to me how he liked those sunfish pan fried whole or similar, not deboned, so on the Sunday before I would leave early Monday morning, I'd catch a bunch at the old reservoir near me, a clean body of water. Ole Bob enjoyed the heck out of those and it kept me in good graces on the job with the trucks rolling in and out !

Larry, a few days ago you posted a picture of tree removal and showed a flat bed trailer behind a tractor. I always use a wagon for projects like limb pickup and trash removal but a wagon is cumbersome to manuver. Your trailer looks perfect for my needs. How is it made and did you make it yourself? It appears to have big truck type wheels. I don't need a trailer that is road worthy....just need a handy and easy to use trailer for the farm.

I didnt build the trailer, but it is homemade,It has a front axel from a truck under it,Interesting story, the farm right below us,the grandson has the farm now.The family had a sale odf all the grandfathers stuff. The grandson bought the farm,so during the sale he bought what he could,I was at the sale,I bought this wagon his grandfather built for 35 dollars,Now if he needs it he just comes next door to get it,he is happy,Im happy all is good.I put a few new boards on it and painted it,my brother gave me two wheels and tires for it,the old tires on it where flat and dry rotted,I will take closer pictures of how it is built and post them another time for you,I am away from it now,I had this picture on file.

I built one like that from a old boat reailer. Later on I r3placed the axle wit a heavier one . Sometimes yuou can find a 5-6000 lb boat trailer really cheap because the are supposedly boat specific and people dont realize what can be done.

Nothing better than Bluegill fillets.
It's like eating fish potato chips!
Edd in Ky,
Watch the boats section on craigslist, there's allways boat trailors for sale there.

A good size bluegill is just as good of eating fish as any other to me. I much prefer them over catfish. I don't like a "strong" tasting fish.

The small farm ponds around here used to be full of bluegill. I do mean BIG bluegill.

My first wife loved fish. When we where first married we would go fishing in those farm ponds. That many times was our Sat. evening "date" . I would get home from work at 4-5 pm and we would take a picnic supper and fish until dark. Then lay on a blanket and watch the stars come out. We would talk an "plan" our future. It really brings back memories writing about it.

Nice pond and your friend has a nice bunch of fish for himself.
