2nd Crop in Central WI

At least it was a little better than 1st crop. Lots of winter kill on the alfalfa, on top of being a month behind. Just to make sure we knew what manual labor was, we baled some small squares for the calves yesterday.

Where at in central Wis? Over here in Kaukauna, our 1st crop was excellent with minimal winter kill, and our second crop is pretty good too. Unfortunatly, it got washed pretty good today. Scattered showers my @$$. Hoping it can get dry for Sunday..... don't think we'll be able to get it all but we'll sure try. Our oats & peas were really nice too, but the alfalfa that was planted with it seems to have never come. The pasture mix we planted on the bottom end of the field looks really nice...

A farm in Hilbert where I lived worked up 300 of 370 acres of alfalfa this spring and is starting over. Their oats & peas were pitiful, and their direct seeded hay didn't look much better. One truck was sitting on the end of the field while their big SP like you pictured was struggling to have even a weak stream of feed come out of the spout.
