Allis Chalmers serial numbers

Hey everyone, I am having some troubles finding the year of my old Allis Chalmers tractor. I have found the Tractor Number right in front of the gear shifter. The number is b112420, I have looked all over to find the year of this tractor but this number never matches up with any site codes. Also does the b at the beginning of the number mean it is a B series tractor? I would appreciate the help, thanks.

I do not see your problem. The beginning year number for a 1950 is B102393 and the beginning number for the 1951 is B114258. So if you do the math you can see your number fits in between the 2 so you have a 1950. That is as per the research and info on the left of this page. How hard can finding that be????

Thank you for your reply, but to be very honest i am just getting into older tractors now and i don't understand very well how my tractor number fits between two different years of tractor.

That is a very nice tractor i must say. So i have gone through the steps to find my tractors serial number and i have got to the same spot i was before and again i am trying to match my tractor number with one of the ones in the chart but i don't see any numbers that are even close to mine. can someone explain to me how to do this again?

OK Sam I,ll try .. It is not going to be an excat, found my number match. Look at the numbers he posted. Your tractor falls IN the first year. The second year BEGINING number is higher than your tractor so yours was made the year BEFORE>>

Oooooo ok i think i see now. this whole time i was looking for a number that was an exact number. see i didn't know that the numbers would not be a perfect match.
Any ideas why they wouldn't just make a perfect match number for that year?

Sam, it is simple math. Start counting from #102393 and when ya get to 112420 it will be your tractor serial number.. So it is a 1950 B Allis Chalmers
What Old was trying to tell you, your serial # falls in between 1950 serial numbers---102393 and end at 114257

1951 serials #'s start at 114258 and end at 118673.

They do not list EACH individual serial number for every tractor.. HTH

Noone would sit there and type it all out! Yours falls in between the first one for the year and the first one for the next year, its not a exact science.

Ok thanks. It all makes sense now. see i didn't really know anything about looking up serial numbers and such. i didn't know that was how they set up the lists. I am used to looking up guitar serial numbers, when you search the number it shows the exact guitar- where it was made- what time it was made- stuff like that. so thanks everyone for the help and input
