what do they fit?

(quoted from post at 10:07:12 07/23/13) I found a couple sets of front wheel weights and was just wondering what they fit, the seller doesn"t know.
poke here

I need to add weights on the 8n..with the bushhog, gets pretty light coming out of the ditches...but their pricy..

Considered molding some out of quickcrete that would fit over the front axle...but its pretty tight up there with the steering linkage and all...lots of places to bind up..

Super Steve:

I also want to know, because I have 2 full sets of those same front wheel weights - two on the outside & two on the inside of each wheel. So they had to be off of a tractor with two front wheels. My weights are painted White. I also have 1 wheel & 1 tire that go with the weights. The original paint color on the wheel is Red. And the tire is a Good Year 7.5L-15 Super Rib Tractor. I've had these for over 30 years and I have no idea what make of tractor they came off from.

The yellow weights in the first picture are rear wheel weights off a Deere Combine such as the 4400-6620. Deere stuck the engine up in the front so that if you headed down a steep hill with the header on it was possible to do a headstand especially if you touched the brakes or pulled back too quickly on the hydro. These weights helped a bit.

Wilamayb:

Could the half weights have also been used on a tractor, because when I first got mine there were two halves on the outside and two halves on the inside of the rim & the tire was mounted on the rim. I took everything apart because I wanted to try to use the rim on an old truck that I had. The holes in the rim lined up with the lug studs but the center hole was too small.

I think they're pretty generic. Thay'll bolt in to most ant tractor/implement rim. I have a similar pair that came on a New Idea UniHarvester. I've had them on the front of two different tractors. A 4040 Deere and a 1550 Oliver.

I dont see why not if the tractor has at least 16" rims.

These weights are actually meant to go on the inside of the rims. I could see that being a problem on a tractor if the rim is not dished deeply enough to allow the weight to clear the axle knee as it rotates, otherwise I cant think of a reason why it wouldnt work.

According to the Deere parts catalog these weights fit all combines from 3300-7720 with 16 or 20" rear wheels. I dont see any reason why they wouldnt work on the older generation of combines as well other than the fact that many of the 45-105 combines had 18" wheels. I'm not sure without trying whether or not they would bolt up... I cant see why they wouldnt.

The yellow weights are combine weights like several others have posted. To be more exact they are the INSIDE rear weights. They are a two piece weight so you can install them with the rim on the combine. Which is how you have to install them. You had a 150 LBS weight on the out side, that is one piece. Then you had two of the inside weights bolted through the rim and to each other. I think the inside weights where 50 LBS each.

They made a rear flat tire a real JOY!!!!! LMAO. You had to remove the outer weight to get the rim off. You could leave the inter two bolted together and they would hang on the spindle. It was a real finger pinching job to install them on a combine.

They usually sell CHEAP. I mean $20-25 dollars each. The big out side weight usually brings about the same. They will fit 16 inch wheels if you have the correct offset. They would be cheap front weights for a tractor if your rims allow them to clear the spindle.
