OT Dodge Caliber

run away bigest piece of junk ever built.. daughter had one you can't even check fluid level on transmision. no dipstick supposedly s sealed unit

really?!

I think the EPA has deterined that any grease or oil or fluid change has to add towards the cars emmision.

That is why I believe we"ve gone over the edge on keeping things that need grease, as opposed to the " never needs maintenance" idea.

I believe if we got a few of the laws strightened out, we"d be better off. Think how much energy is spent tryin to produca a product versus a few sqirts of grease or a few qarts of oil/fluid.

My rant,

Bought one coming off lease in '08(I think). It only had 17000 km.The original owner (lessee?) had paid for the gold warranty.Chrysler put most of a new front suspension in it under warranty but it has given no trouble since. The Caliber was built and marketed as a low price vehicle so nothing is any better than it has to be in my opinion.Having said that it is good on gas and once you get used to the CVT gearbox they are OK but only OK.The market value is low so figure to own it for the rest of its life.I might not buy another one but I don't intend to sell mine.

My wife has mobility issues and this is one of the few vehicles she can get in and out of easily. We had a Ford Focus before but she got stuck in the driveway when I was away at work a couple of times. The Caliber goes through snow better than the Focus.

Had a Ford "exploder" until recently, same way. Had to take it to the dealer to get the trans serviced / checked.

We had an '09, put 80,000 trouble free miles on it. Not the most powerful thing in the world, and only good mileage, not great. We only got rid of it because we had trouble getting in and out of it as we got older. We spent 4 weeks traveling thru the western US and Canada in it and we're still married so that tells you something.

I"m 6"1" with short legs/long torso. I climbed into one one day, turned my head, and my eyes were about three inches above the door frame. Had to lay into the passenger seat and swing my legs out first to get out of it.
