Wanting to budget for a 40 x 60 building. Half concrete floor, 16 foot walls, and a 2 or 3 foot high concrete wall around the bottom (foundation built building). Two sliding door entrances and one man door. I am just East of St. Louis. Just wanting a ballpark figure. Electrical and other interior work other than the concrete I will do. Just kicking the idea around and appreciate any input.

Just built on and we also used concrete curb. Only about 18 inches. Forming and getting that curb will be costly ,BUT I like the security of that concrete curb. We used 2X6 for walls but probably could have got by with 2X4 . Metal sides with one roll up overhead door and one walk door. You are going to be closet to 40 thousand than you are to 30 , Well you might get out for less forgot you are not concreting the entire floor.

Thanks! That is what we were thinking. I don"t need that big of a shop that is why we are only putting the concrete floor in half. The other half is machine storage.

The problem with having only half concrete is you
will probably have condensation on the inside.
Definitely use condensation stop under the steel on
the roof, and polly under the floor. I don't know
how it would work but how about putting polly down
4" under the surface in the part that doesn't have
concrete.

No idea of cost.

No idea is how one would design a building, 60 ft long, 16 ft high and a 40 ft span without having long poles in the ground, to withstand the winds in tornado alley.

Does anyone in your area have such a building?

Would your plans have go cross the desk of a building inspector?
