Today I had the chance to visit with a Grandson
of a man I've known all my Life. I asked how's
Gramp's do'en?? He said Just fine, we had him
out baling hay, he baled over 500 one afternoon.
I thought WOW thats wonderful! This man will
Turn 99 in September.. He doesn't look a day
over 70. Was able to climb up into a 7130 &
bale hay all afternoon with a 310 NH kicker
Baler... I doudt if there is much over a
handful of men at this age today capible of
operating new equitment with out a problem..
The man say's just once in a while his Sum-
Timer's Flares UP... LOL

I had a conversation this morning; told him about a dealer salesman that I knew. The first time I met the salesman, I judged him to be somewhere between 60 and 65. Learned later that he was 80!

Sometimes it's hard to guess a person's age.

I have a close friend that will be 82 in September He farms about 400 acres of citrus with the help of a couple of hired hands. Does all his own maintenance on his equipment and still finds time to restore a antique truck or tractor every few years. He called me the other day and told he had decided to sell all the groves but about 50 acres just didn't feel like doing it anymore said it was time to slow down and maybe take it easy. Has 1920's Mack truck he has been working on for a number of years wants to get done before he's gone. He can still work me in the ground on just about any given day. Has a big barn full of antiques and his daughter and I are always telling him when dies were going to wait until Saturday to bury him so we can have the service in the Barn at 11:00 and the estate auction at 1:00. He always laughs and says go ahead he figures he isn't going to need it where he's going just make sure the auctioneer doesn't charge more than 10%

Yesterday in the waiting room at the doctor's office a spry older gent who I could tell was a farmer sat down beside me. We got to talking and he finally said he's 92. I told him he looked pretty darned good for being 92. He said he had one hip replaced 25 years ago, the other one replaced 15 years ago and they give him no pain or trouble at all. He even kicked his leg up high to show how good it is. He said the only reason he uses a cane is his knee is no good. So yes it is true you sometimes can't judge an older person's age.
Up until about 1990 we had an old bachelor neighbor who's first name was Bill. He passed away at 97. He never had a phone or plumbing in the house. Up until the last couple of years of his life he'd only been to the doctor once in his life and that was when the prostate plugged up. He was born in 1895. Sometime in the late 1980's on an August day I'd been out walking around in the tangled beans pulling a few stray weeds. I probably walked a mile in all. When I came out of the field I was shot so to cool down I drove up to Bill's to see how he was doing. He was just walking out of his bean field, and he told me the beans are so tangled he can only make three rounds! He was pushing 90 at the time. Jim
