I have a New Holland 77 square baler and I would like to get rid of. Its always been in the shed. It has a Wisconsin V4 on it and it runs well. Any ideas on value? It was dad's and i have no use for it.

Baisicly scrap iron. That's a big obsolete beast that
nobody will want as a 'user'.That said,find a
'collector' or club or something.Or donate it to a
local 'museum'.PLEASE dont scrap it!!!

If that Wisconsin has been sitting a long time in the shed and still turns over be careful if you try to start it. I bought a Wisconsin hand cranker that was on a Case A6 combine. I filed the points and put gas in it but it wouldn't start by hand cranking. So I put a big drill on the end of the crankshaft and pulled the trigger. One piston sucked in a big gulp of dry powdered rust and when it hit the top the rust compressed and broke the piston. Not a good 'start' to the project. I threw in a used piston and it still runs today pulling a hydraulic pump. Jim

Sold one just like it 2-3 years ago to a collector, had been in shed all it's life. Got $300. He got it going for shows etc.

Its a good baler. just ran 2 years ago and never missed a bale. I hate to scrap it. But it looks like there isn't much interest in it thats prolly where it'll end up in the scrap. And i know how much fun those Wisconsins are when they're hot, they'll make you use every cuss word in your vocabulary!!!!

You might try agricultural fairs or old iron exibits, museum, living history center etc. You may be able to take a donation as a tax credit!!!

I have a New Holland 77 and I need some parts for the old girl. If you should decide to scrap it, please let me know I could sure use some parts off of your baler. I've used mine for years and it's a great baler. Big and heavy but it can sure punch out the bales.

Thanks,
Dick

I sold one last year for $500. Same story, Dad bought it brand new, along with a pallet of twine, I still have the receipt. Baled hundreds of thousands of bales. Had the Wisc. with electric start and a distributor, always started and ran good, duals both sides, never sat out a night in it's life. I used it untill the mid eighties or so. Just taking up room in the shed, had to go. It's at the Nowthen Threshing Show.
