Twinkee's are back

Sounds good. :)
I wonder if whoever owns the company now, is still letting the union tell them that they can't haul twinkees and wonder bread on the same truck ??

People are going nuts. Went to get gas this morning. Found people hanging around the station. Rumor had it that they would some in to day.I like Twinkee's,but not enough to stand in line at 6 in the morning.

I know someone who worked there. The ceo demanded that the union take a 4 th pay cut, they had already taken 3. All the while he gave the top dogs huge raises and himself a 52 per cent increase in salary. When the union refused they shut the doors.i guess I wouldn't put up with that BS either.

The wage cuts where true but the UNION rules where what really broke the company. They would send two different trucks to the same store to deliver Twinkees and Wonder Bread. If it was a BIG store another person came and put them out on the shelves.

The management was terrible but the UNIONS where just as much to blame because of the CRAZY work rules they had.

I'm glad that it is back to normal! The world didn't seem right.

Next time they have this problem, we need to get all the twinkie lovers together, get them in the employee parking lot of the twinkie factory, give them all baseball bats... and when they announce twinkies will be gone forever... tell them, "ready, set, go!"

See how long that union lasts with a bunch of obese people gaining on them!

HA HA

Glad they are back, America feels whole again.

Didn't miss them at all. Might have had one 50 years ago - before I found out what was in them.

Got my first look at unions. In the Philly ship yards while in the Navy. Sailors couldn't do any work unless a union shop leader was there. Took me and another sailor eight hours to do a thirty minute job. Because we had to wait on shop leaders to show up.
No wonder the ship was four months late leaving the yards.

Yup, sounds about right. Ever notice the unions complain like crazy if the owners take a bigger cut but when the union bosses get a new luxury car, raises and bigger expense account we're supposed to keep quiet? Used to be unions protected the little guy from big bad business. Now, unions ARE big bad business!!!

B&D you are in Canada aren't you??? Different company owns the right up there. In the US the company went bankrupt.

I didn't miss them though I do like them once in a while.
I found Little Debbie Cloud Cakes at Menards which are exactly the same thing.
Only difference was they came in a package of 10 for about $3 instead of about $1.75 for two Twinkies.
I'd leave them in my pickup in the winter.
They're great frozen.

Yeah, back before Doc made me quit eating anything that tasted good, I used to go through a lot of Little Debbie stuff- especially the Swiss Rolls. Much less money, and just as good.

I still give Li'l Deb a wistful smile when I pass her in the supermarket aisle. . .

Ultradog,

You are right!
Had not had any for years and years... but after they disappeared I bought a box of Little Debbie just to see what they tasted like and they are EXACTLY the same.

They probably sat right there on the shelf all during the bankruptcy. Those things will keep for a long time. 4 months on the wrapper, but who really knows how long? Some of the new ones will be frozen and can be kept that way forever. Might pay to buy some and hang on to them. Might be worth something someday.

OK Fact: Hostess did approve a large raise for management: Fact: Most did not receive it because they left the company or instead too large pay cuts: Fact: The pay raises did away with yearly bonuses: Fact: Those pay raises were put in effect to try to keep people there who were thinking about jumping ship: Fact: Those raises went away when it was found out they violated bankruptcy law: Fact: The unions, requiring things like Hostess and Wonder products to be delivered in separate trucks, other union people actually placing the product on store shelves (3 workers doing the job of 1) and so on had a great deal to do with Hostess failing. Much more than the unions would like to admit.

Many folks think that if the CEO of a company would just take a pay cut that the employees could have a nice pay raise. Lets see, the CEO of Wal Mart makes about 18 million a year. They employee about 2.2 million people. So if he worked for free and they gave each employee an equal share they would get $8.18 for the entire year or about .003 cents an hour for full timers.
