Had a little excitement over the weekend...

The 'excess fuel return line' came loose and started dumping the excess fuel on the exhaust header... Talk about smoke... I knew it couldn't be too bad, the engine never skipped a beat, but my heart sure did!!! :D

P.S. 1961 MF35 Deluxe with Perkins 3-cyl diesel...

Were you in wheat stubble? I have nightmares about just such a scenario. It is all I can do not to stop and yell every time I see something parked in a wheat field.

Nope. Just bush hogging some weeds... Hoping that one day it'll switch from being kudzu to being something I can bale and sell...

Edit: Yes, I know I can bale kudzu... But I don't want to...

Friend of mine sent an email about his exciting experience. He was sitting in a restaurant next to a plate glass window facing the parking lot. A car came speeding through the lot and right through the window and into the table where he and 3 of his friends were sitting. All were taken to emergency room but only had moderate injuries from the broken glass and being knocked from their seats. Don't know if they had to pay their bill before being carried away??

Back years ago I was driving a 2.2 litre Plymouth Reliant from Houston, TX to Missouri. The valve cover gasket let loose and was dripping oil onto the exhaust manifold. I stopped for gas and to top off the crankcase somewhere in Arkansas. When I lifted the hood, I just happened to notice a flame right under the carburetor.

Glad you did not have a fire! This Jeep was passing us on I80 between Omaha and Lincoln with flames underneath. I let him pass-but was yelling at him to stop-so he did! This is what happened the moment he stopped. He and his buddy had been at a 'sand rally' all weekend, figured he had showered sand on his fuel tank, causing a hole, which sits over the exhaust!

If you rev up an old truck with an exhaust leak in wheat stubble it will catch on fire take My word for it.
