I have a JD 2955 that I relaced to the trans pump and hydraulic pump. The scv boxes get 195 degrees. The power steering pump gets 185 degrees. After working the tractor for about an hour the oil get too hot and cant use the tractor until it cools. Its it likely an unclosed valve in the scv? should I cap the flow to these off?

From COLD, does any hydraulic component heat up first?

Any noises from the scv"s, steering valve or hitch control.

Beyond that, you have it figured out... cap off supply oil to the various functions "til the front pump destrokes and oil heating stops.

Hyd problem could very well be cracked/leaking tubes that operate the hyd hi-lo &/or pto. Diagnostics checking pressures, temp and flow will be the only way to accurately determine the cause

What's too hot? 195F is still acceptable as far as degradation goes, but barely. Does it actually stop operating, or does it simply 'seem' too hot. Are you using the SCV's?
