I saw a guy raking hay the other day. Is it as relaxing as it looks? A JD B and a hay rake singing must be a very pleasant sound.

Looks to be as good as it gets. Nice to see an area that is so dry (for hay) that dew is needed. In MN we wait for dew to go away to allow moisture to be on target, same in Indiana as a kid. Beautiful. Jim

How do you move that rear rake left or right? Some manual adjustment. I see you don't use hyds on it.

Looks like a lot of acres. Just think if you were using a team of horses and an eight foot dump rake. I kinda remember those days. Len

Raking hay in uneven fields don't leave you much time to think about anything other than what you are doing. IF...you are gonna do a good job.

Wow.....sure different than when I was raking hay with my neighbor's 8N and his New Idea siderake back in the 50s.
Anybody remember how those two "tailwheels" on those old rakes would get to wobblin" when you hauled 'em down the road?
We never saw fields like the one in your picture up here in the backwoods of New York State.
Beautiful picture!

I started with a farmall B and IH 16 rake, then moved up to the super M. The surgeon who pieced my kneecap back together asked what the therapists had me doing, I said raking hay I don't have money for PT. Turns out swinging your foot up to the brake pedal at the end of the field is better than physical therapy.

And it is about as relaxing as you can get. When I get out raking hay I don't think about anything else, quite the opposite of what was said above. Kinda like going back to 6th grade summer vacation and not having any worries for a few hours again.
