I know this isn't a tractor, but I had to share what I saw yesterday when doing a delivery. It is a Foo Car, 1 of 10 built in the mid 70"s. It is supposedly based on a vehicle in a 40's or 50's comic strip. It has 2 wheels on the ground and is well balanced. it seats 2 side by side and has a top speed of about 6 mph (parade speed). This thing is real neat and I thought some of you might enjoy seeing it.

Smoky had a picture on the wall of his living room that said, "Scram gravy ain't wavy". I never had any idea what that meant, but I've often used it in conversations just for the fun of it. Old people get it. Young people don't.

How does it stay upright? It must have a mechanism to lock up the axles at all times when not moving (the drive mechanism would be interesting to see) And it looks like having passengers would throw it off balance, since their weight looks like it would be centered slightly behind the axle.

IIRR, the tire conceals much, it's flat, there are 2 small wheels inside, that roll against the bottom, stabilizing the whole contraption. Somewhere there is an A/C foo car, that is seen occasionally at steam and gas shows. still looks neat, even with the mystery solved!

A fellow who owned a local wrecking yard made one of those around 1950 and had it in local parades.

So rock-star wannabe Wavy Gravy, and the Foo Fighters rock group, both got their names from Smokey Stover. There's a trivia question that will generate yawns wherever you ask it.
