New radiator in an A model John

Getting ready to install a new radiator in a 1945 A model John and looking for some expert advice on what sealer to use on the top and bottom gaskets because I sure don't want a leak. Is the red RTV better for this or one of the other ones? Thanks

RTV is NOT a good choice WITH gaskets 'cuz it makes them slip out of place when they are compressed when the bolts are tightened.

IMHO, some sort of "hy-tack" or contact=type gasket cement would be a better choice.

What about the old indian head shellac?

No. 2 permatex, brown paste, use it on all the radiators and water pump gaskets. chris
