Well I went to the auction in Western, Pa to buy the 15-18. Phone bidders vs people at auction.
Sale price $7900. Too rich for my wallet, I couldn't make any money at that price. The thing should have been in a museum.

I figured it would bring good money. The Internet allows buyers from all over the world to bid.

I found it funny that several guys posted on here about it and about how it may go cheap because it was in the middle of no where. They gave FREE advertising to the owner and auctioneer on a popular antique web site.

I was kind of scratching my head over that. I would have waited until after the auction to post about it. If I had posted before the auction it would have been in real general terms.

You can't assume what something will sell for, especially a collectible antique, due to its location. As you mentioned, with phone and internet bidding, the sky is the limit as long as someone has the cash to cover his bid.
There is an auctioneer locally who specializes in estate sales that have a lot of collectibles, they say he has out of state buyers who he specifically notifies when certain items become available.
We have to remember that no matter how badly you or I want something with our limited wallets, they are in business for one specific reason, TO MAKE MONEY!

There were a couple of Internet Bidders. Like you say the value is all in what someone wants to pay. You had to want it pretty darn bad to pay that much. It had to be a toy for the collection, cause I can't see how you could dump another $3000 in it and then resell it. Oh well "Cest La vie".

I looked in all of my Case books and for the life of me I can't find a 15-18 tractor listed. there is 15-27 and a 10-15 but no 15-18.
are we sure of the model number.

Maybe that's why it was so rare.

That"s right if it wasn"t that I had seen it posted here I never would have seen it. I went to the sale and run it to 7800.oo there was no internet other than the fact that the auctioneer had to call a fellow in Wis. for his bid. That would have been scary to buy it that far away this place was out there! The crows would have picked that thing clean by the time he got there to get it.Hope it gets restored it will be a lot of fun.
