Farmer Fix--Ya Do What Ya Gotta Do

Waiting for another swather to come from the dealer as my old junk has just about had it. :>(

Frustrating because I'm behind, the alfafa has turned back on itself and it needs to be on the ground now...........

Hooked up to the 495 which has a bad pedistal bearing. Found another pedistal in an old 490 that has been rusting away in the 'dead row' for many, many years now.

6 hours to pull the bearing from the 490 and swap it into the 495. So far, so good; knocked out 45 acres yesterday.

Have one gigantic kink in my neck from watching for that semi tho. This thing isn't gonna last much longer....... :>(

I sure hope you make it rain by cutting your hay. What started out as such a good spring, is quickly turning brown.

You got that right!

Hot, dry and I've got another 310 acres of alfalfa that needs to be dropped.

I don't care if it does rain on the hay. We need moisture!

I think we need to turn those giant windmills up north of here towards the west, and set them on high speed, sending this incessant rain out your way, straight down to Texas !

Nick,
It is turning brown here also, but from mud. Mud in the streets, mud in stores, mud in cellars. Raining as I post and more localized flooding predicted for today.

I know here in East TX, we'll take all anyone don't want. I have two small ponds and one water hole (I dug a long trench, two JD 450 blades wide in a low spot for minnows, MO-SKEET-TOE control. None have been full in 4 or 5 years.

Otters have clean the fish out, the ones that will make a month full and beginning on the others.

Kind of wish it was possible, this here has turned into a tropical rain forest. Interesting to look a the weather maps, we just can't overcome that jet stream that is doing all this, and last year at this time, it was dry for 6 weeks or better.

Been raining here in SC for the last 3 weeks, more forecast for this week. Lots of hay to be cut. Never had that particular problem when I had a 469, did keep it greased heavily. Looks like the same assembly as on a 469, looks like NH would have put a bigger assembly on a 495.

I had the same bearing go out on my NH 488 last year while mowing. I got lucky and the Advance Auto Parts here had the bearing in stock. I swapped mine out in the field.

I had the same problem on my 495, sold it last year, now with my 1st cutting way way behind, wish I still had it. My first is fender high on the tractor, the 1465, although newer, is having a hard time eating it. Lucky I only have about 30 acres to go... Cutting tonight, all day tomorrow until it's all on the ground... Rain in forecast, but percentages low, so I have to take the chance...
