I stopped by a friends shop today. The family runs a pretty good sized trucking operation along with a pretty good sized vegetable operation. I am friendly with all three brothers and the father and various sons, daughters, in laws, employees including the five Jamaicans etc, but in particular the brother who operates the vegetable operation. We were talking for awhile and I asked him if not being able to plant any corn for eight days meant that he would run out come August? He replied that he may not get any corn at all, and strawberries are already a bust, and nothing is growing because the ground has been continuously too wet for too long. This guy has been always smiling and up-beat for the thirty-five years that we have been friends. Today he just looked straight ahead and said "It's discouraging." That, to me, is scary, I am very glad that I cut my hay way back this year.
