What's a henway?

A fella on the call in radio sale this morning advertised a "manure spreader" for sale. I called him up and asked him about his "politician." Now I grew up hearing this implement called a politician, but he'd never heard it called that. It got me to wondering, are there any other contraptions we use on the farm that go by different names depending on where you're at?

There's a variety of beetle that I still call a "nnalert". I've never known what its technical name was.

We grew feed for sileage and bales. We always called the cultivator that we used a "sled". You had to sled the feed when it was about 6 inches tall. It was a normal 3 point cultivator but it had metal guards for the feed to run under that were about 18 inches long. You could sure sled some feed right out of the ground with that on the back of the 966 Farmall.

My mother still calls that thing you swing with the serrated blade to cut weeds a name that recently got Paula Deen in a little trouble. The more politically correct name for the rest of us has been an "idiot stick".

I've always called accelerator pedals a foot feed also. I was just wondering the other day where that came from. Has to go back to when most cars had hand throttles.

Before or after laying? :)
I've heard the manure spreader called a political campaign.
And the tractor in front of a ground driven one called a political poll.
Pull it fast enough, and you'll have a new opinion!

Get home from work and ask your wife to have "Snoo" for supper.
What"s "Snoo"???
Not much, what"s snoo with you.

Hi When I lived in the U.K we called them snoopy's and I've heard them called that here in Canada, Plus a whole load of impolite names, not fit for here when the front axles snap off or in half L.O.L.
Regards Robert
