I had the lawn sprayed and it stuned my roses. The one is growing out of it. Can I cut the other one back say about 1/3 and see if it will regrow? Thanks in advance. J.

Yes you can cut them back without hurting them. Of course if it is damaged anyway it may eventually die but it won"t be because you cut it back.

I bet it will recover without any cut back, all it needs is water water water....you can't hardy kill those things, have only seen them die from lack of water...... If it does die, plant some more. Great decorative and hardy plant, down south anyway. You should never spray insecticide on them, kills the bees.

I did the same (with 2-4-D). One limb died. I pulled it off and the rest is fine.

If I try with roses they die. If I abuse them they thrive. Cut it off

We are having problems with knock-out roses in some areas of west TN. There is a mite that bores into the stem. The mite doesn't harm the plant however it is carrying a virus that destroys the plant. The plant first looks like aphid damage and then fungi disease. The plant bolts and buds die. it is recommended the bush be dug up and destroyed and a miticide incorporated into affected soil.
