I just bought an old Case 800 tractor and would like to change the oil. Does anybody know what type of oil I can put in it?

if its a diesel 15-40 is the way to go. for gas can use 10-30, 10-40 or even a straight 40 i like to use in the old gassers if they are work horses. many just use 15-40 in all applications also. presume your talking engine oil.

If I were you, I would be more conserned about the oil in the COM trans. It requires Dextron Type A, or equivilent oil, not just TSC hyd oil!!!
Hop down to the Case forum, and get some real info on your new-to-you tractor.

if it's a diesel 30w is reccomended, I have 3 830 diesels and thats what they get, I guess 15-40 would work if you don't plan on pulling it hard as long as it isn't that rotella crap but I will stay with 30w in mine. I use Case TCH in the torque converter and Case Hytran in the transmission/hydraulics. Originally Type A which is now Dexron was called for in the trans/hyd. Years ago a good Case tech. told Dad to use jd 303/universal hydraulic oil in the converter, take it for what it's worth
