2005 Chev K3500, 1st leak at 170k miles.

Was mowing yard yesterday, & noticed a foot wide spot of oil that wasn"t there a few days ago directly under where it was parked. Closer inspection showed dripping fluid on the bottom of the 4x4 skid plate cover. Got a feeling its coming from the front transfer case. Going to Chevy dealer for closer inspection today. I can only imagine what this cost will be!

Still better than a lot of vehicles I have had in the past. Once had 2 new S-10 pickups that leaked oil out of the oil sending unit at about 4500 miles. 4500 for both of them? 1 was a 91, other a 93 model.

That is not an unusual problem in GM"s. The pump moves inside the case and wears a pinhole in it. The fix is a new rear half and a retaining brace for the pump.

Checked the fluids before leaving for the dealer, & found the engine oil slightly below normal. Dealer found NO GASKET on the oil drain plug!!! I don't change the oil myself. Got a free oil change out of it.
